Chhattisgarh as we know it known as Dakshin Kosala from Ramayana and Mahabharata. It is full of forests (with the 3rd largest forest cover in the country) and waterfalls. The Tribal Culture in Chhattisgarh is vast and varied with its unique ways and means. Chhattisgarh was under Maratha Rule (Bhonsles of Nagpur) from 1741 to 1845.Rich in heritage & culture, a tour to Chhattisgarh is something not to be missed.

Itinerary

Arrive at Raipur Airport in the morning and proceed towards Sirpur, one of India's most significant archaeological sites and an important centre of Buddhism, Shaivism and Vaishnavism between the 6th and 10th centuries.

 

Explore:

  • Lakshman Temple – India's finest surviving brick temple.
  • Buddhist Monasteries (Viharas)
  • Gandheshwar Temple
  • Archaeological Museum (subject to time)

Continue to Bilaspur for check-in and overnight stay.

Overnight: Bilaspur

  • After breakfast, visit Ratanpur, the historic capital of the Kalachuri dynasty.

    Post Lunch proceed to Janjgir, renowned for its remarkable temple architecture.

    Visit:

    • Janjgir Vishnu Temple 

    Return to Bilaspur for overnight stay.

    Overnight: Bilaspur

  • Drive to Tala, home to one of India's most enigmatic archaeological masterpieces.

    Visit:

    • Deorani–Jethani Temple Complex
    • The extraordinary Rudra Shiva sculpture, celebrated for its unique composite iconography.

     

    Continue to Bhoramdeo, often called the Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh.

    Evening at leisure amidst the serene surroundings.

    Overnight: Bhoramdeo

  • Spend the morning exploring the magnificent Bhoramdeo Temple Complex, built by the Nagvanshi rulers and renowned for its intricate carvings and beautiful forest setting.

    Visit:

    • Bhoramdeo Temple
    • Mandwa Mahal
    • Cherki Mahal

     

    Later drive to Raipur. Check in to the hotel. Have a relaxed evening 

    Overnight: Raipur

  • After an early breakfast, begin the scenic drive towards Bastar.

    En route visit:

    • Rajim – the sacred confluence town known for the Rajiv Lochan Temple and ancient temple complex.
    • Explore famous traditional Bastar handicrafts, especially wrought iron (Bell Metal/Dhokra) and tribal crafts.

    Overnight: Chitrakote 

  • A full day dedicated to exploring the rich temple heritage of Bastar.

    Visit:

    • Barsur, once the capital of the Nagavanshi rulers.
      • Battista Temple, Twin Ganesha Temple
      • Visit Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram 
    • Danteshwari Temple, one of India's revered Shakti Peethas.

    Return to Chitrakote. Overnight at Chitrakote 

After breakfast, explore the natural wonders of Kanger Valley National Park.

Visit:

  • NarayanPal Temple 
  • Kotumsar Cave /Kailash Cave 
  • Tirathgarh Waterfall
  • Tribal villages 
  • Experience the unique biodiversity and tribal culture that make Bastar one of India's most fascinating regions.

Return to Jagdalpur. Overnight: Jagdalpur

After breakfast,

Visit the Jagdalpur Museum, Danteshwari Devi Mandir. Post Lunch depart for Jagdalpur Airport for your return flight to Pune/ Mumbai.
